February 25

We had severe thunderstorms last night with high winds and some tornadoes. As I'm sure most of the eastern portion of the U.S. experienced this as well. I took pictures of trees that had been knocked down due to the storm.

A few men had already begun cutting off the tree branches for clean up. As I was walking home, I saw them hauling away the branches on a trailer. One of the guys had a mullet, unfortunately I didn't take his picture for the blog.

It's a little cool and windy today. This was the extent of sun that I saw while I was walking. Of course now that I'm home, the sun has decided to come out. Note the airplane on the left side of the picture.

This was a dead tree beside our house that fell during the storms. Good thing it didn't fall onto our house.

I went walking by myself today. Just a quick walk. I need to up it to 4.

February 22

I love the sky when the sun sets. Beautiful array of colors.

That's a deer in the center of the picture. The camera on my phone doesn't zoom well or take good distance pictures. Loren and I saw four when we were walking.

I've been busy helping my dad around the house this week. He's off from work so I didn't go walking as much. I think I might start wearing my pedometer around the house on some days.

February 20

We went to Tennessee this weekend to visit my grandma. The park nearby has a nice walking trail that runs alongside a creek.

This is the furthest I've walked yet. The warmest it's been too. It was almost 70 degrees. Loren and I worked up a sweat walking. The trail here by my house is made of gravel. This walking trail was paved. I liked it a lot better. The pavement gave me that boost. We walked a lot faster than usual.

Clearly the Wonder Trail is meant for children. But entertaining nevertheless.

I tested it out so I now know that my pedometer isn't faulty. I had walked a little from the car to the starting point, so that's where the .2 miles come from.

February 17

My neighborhood's office. Interesting local architecture.

Sun setting.

Full moon rising.

I wanted to walk 4 miles. Almost made it. I feel like Loren and I walked for much longer. Maybe I have a faulty pedometer. Maybe I just don't know how to use it properly. The official 15 week training schedule begins this weekend.

February 15

We decided to bring Lilly walking with us today.

Beautiful sky! I love the clouds.

I remembered to wear the right shoes. They make a difference.

Not bad considering Lilly walked with us.

There were a lot of people out today enjoying the weather. We probably saw 12 people out walking. In New York that number would be exponentially larger.

February 13

My walking partner . Doesn't she look excited?

I forgot to change into my real exercise shoes. These started to hurt my feet.

I call this one "Loren & Sunset"

It was 60 degrees today. Beautiful weather. I like to walk in the late afternoon/early evening. Loren and I heard coyotes howling in the woods. I took an audio recording of them. But I'm not hi-tech enough to post it on here.

I was aiming for 2.5 miles then Dan called. I always like to talk and walk so I made it to 3.6. Yay!

February 11

Today it is sunny and 41, not a cloud in the sky. It didn't feel that cold outside, and I love the sun. A good opportunity to walk. I talked to Lou and Elise on the phone while I was walking. When I talk I get all worked up so I walked pretty fast the whole time. The first dog is Cash and the second is Ben. They live on our street and roam around. Ben likes to sleep in the middle of the road. Lilly (our dog) hates Ben. I don't want to take her walking with me because she'll try and attack him.

I could see both the moon and the sun in the sky today. You can barely see the moon in the first picture, but it's there. Kind of cool.

I walked farther than I planned. Yay! I was aiming for 2 miles.

February 8

These two pictures are from the walk that my sister and I took on Tuesday. We went later in the afternoon. Saw the sunset and made it home by dark. I calculated my stride as 2 feet. I don't know if that's a short stride or long stride or average for my height. I'm 5'4".
This will be my attempt to document my training for the Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk.

Never Say Never, because I have had that song stuck in my head all day. And it's a good motto. Plus I love watching Ellen, and Justin Bieber was on her show the other day. So yeah. Anyway.

Here's a 15 week training schedule posted on The Overnight Website.
