Walking Route

We received an email yesterday from our walking coaches that details the route we will be walking in June. It's going to be a great walk. I don't know if this image is very legible or not- Copyright AFSP. There will be a lot of places we will pass where I have great memories with Chris.

It was a stormy blustery day yesterday but it cleared up in the afternoon. Mom and I went for a short walk. I think this will become routine. She walks short distances. Her lunch break, afternoon break, and then when she gets home. So if I want to walk further I need to go out earlier in the day myself.

Reminds me of New York, ha!

March 22

Yesterday Loren and I walked to the waterfall near our house. We walked down a path off the main road in our neighborhood. A nice little workout walking back up the hill. The weather has been amazing since last Friday. Yesterday it was around 82 degrees. I look like a nerd with my hat and walking stick, but that's ok. And yes, the hat is camo. It's got my dad's company name on it. I kind of like it. Isn't the waterfall beautiful?

Exposed roots on the bank of the creek.

Loren being reflective. Or texting.

Flowers in the woods.

After Loren and I walked, my mom got home from work and she and I went for a short walk too. So this is my total distance. I'm back to walking. I even did a little strength training workout. Walking has always been my mom's way of exercising. I used to walk with her when I was younger. It's good for the mind and body. Even in New York, that was one of my favorite things to do, just walk around and admire my surroundings. Beauty and inspiration can be found everywhere.

Mom and I planted these this weekend. I don't know much about gardening, but I find it nice and relaxing and there's a beautiful final product.

Baby pine cones!

Unfortunately, I after a month and a half of having my pedometer, I still don't know how to use it. This setting is for kilometers not miles. And I'm not good with the metric system. I converted it. So that's .99 miles.

I went for a short walk with my mom Sunday morning before we did yard work. I wasn't feeling so great. And as it turned out, my sister had the flu and got me sick. So after a brief walking/blogging hiatus, I'm back. Feeling better. And the weather is beautiful. Spring is here. I've got to update my blog now...

Beautiful blue skies. I went for a walk by myself.

The white speck in the middle is the first butterfly I've seen this spring. This makes me happy. I've seen a lot over the past week. :)

The Bradford Pear and Cherry trees are in bloom right now. Lots of bees.

I talked to my sister-in-law on the phone while I walked.

March 9

I went for a walk by myself this afternoon. It rained all morning but the sun was starting to come out.

Puddles.

But then I turned around and saw some ugly clouds in the sky so I decided to head home. About 5 minutes after I got home it started raining.

At least I was able to get some walking done.

Pretty!

Loren on the swings. She and I went for a walk/hike in our neighborhood. When I was growing up I would have my birthday party here at this playground every year. I took Chris here when he came to visit this past summer. There are also horse stables. But there weren't any horses around. Perhaps on another walk.

Loren wanted to go on an adventure in the woods rather than walking back the way we came. We got a little lost, but there are a lot of houses nearby so we figured it out. We saw a lot of deer in the woods too. And scary barking dogs.

4.55- not bad. The pedometer does say walk-hike-run. We walked and hiked. It's been raining a lot, like this weekend and today. And tomorrow. Luckily yesterday was alright, and this weekend into next week should be nice and sunny out.

March 3

Hopefully this post will make up for my last. Spring is here! The flowers are beginning to bloom. I love it, except for allergies. I'm kind of surprised how nice these pictures look considering I took them with my phone.

Lilly got tired today and was panting so I carried her part of the way back home. It was like carrying a 10 lb weight. Added to the workout.

My legs hurt today. Not sure why. Maybe because I hadn't walked in three days. Monday it rained. Tuesday I was going to go, but then we ended up going out to eat. And yesterday I was gone all day and didn't get home until dark. Excuses excuses I know.

February 27

I've slacked a little on my post...This is from Sunday. Uneventful walk. Nice picture of the sky.

Lilly was worn out from the walk. We usually only take her part of the way and bring her home then head out again.

Yay! I ended up talking to Dan and walking back and forth on our street for awhile.
